Complete Dental Care Leads To Healthier Mouths

  • December 2, 2016

With Christmas approaching, we hope there is one gift every member of your family shares — happy, healthy smiles. Comprehensive, family dentistry is the foundation of Historic Triangle Dental Care.

If you are looking for a new family dentist in or near Williamsburg, VA, then we welcome you to pay us a visit. Our team would love to show you what we have to offer.

Our own Dr. Michael Whyte was named a “Top Dentist” in Virginia in 2015, and he was profiled as a up-and-coming dentist by the Virginia Dental Association in a magazine article.

Our team of dental professionals even got a little bigger recently with the addition of Dr. Sungmin Peter Jeoun to our staff.

Come in to meet Dr. Jeoun and schedule an appointment for your family’s next dental cleaning. You also can contact us online or by calling 757-903-2527.

Our New Family Dentist

Dr. Jeoun joined our staff in November, and he has already proven to be a valuable addition to our team.

Dr. Jeoun is a member of both the Virginia Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He is part of the Academy of General Dentistry, and he also has membership in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

This tells you a few things about Dr. Jeoun. First, you know that he cares about his patients. His memberships aren’t just about meeting other dentists. They show that he wants to continue learning about the latest techniques and technologies to provide the best care available to families and individuals in and near Williamsburg, VA.

His interest in dental implants fits in with Dr. Whyte’s training and experience. It also means we can help even more patients who are in need of teeth replacements.

We hope you will join us in welcoming Dr. Jeoun to the Historic Triangle Dental Care team.

Complete Family Dentistry

We put an emphasis on providing comprehensive dental care for our patients. While we can respond in a dental emergency, we would much rather take steps to help you avoid those situations.

There’s no need to have a root canal treatment if your tooth doesn’t get infected. To ward off those kinds of infections, we encourage all our patients to practice good oral care at home and to visit us a couple times throughout the year for cleanings and examinations.

During your visits, one of our dental professionals will clean your teeth to remove any plaque or tartar buildup. Then, your teeth will be polished to remove surface stains from your smile.

As part of your routine care, we will take X-rays and examine your mouth. We never want to find tooth decay, gum disease, or any other oral health problem. Yet, we know that find those issues as early as possible leads to simpler and more effective treatment.

If you have not yet scheduled your next appointment, call our dentist office in Williamsburg, VA, at 757-903-2527.

Patient Education Is Part Of Family Dentistry

Most people know what they should do to care for their mouths — brush, floss, and eat healthily. Yet, it never hurts to learn more. If you have questions about any aspect of oral health or you would like us to talk to your children about their dental hygiene routine, we will be happy to do so.

Here’s a quick refresher.

First, remember “2 by 2” about brushing your teeth. For two minutes, twice a day, you should scrub your teeth using toothpaste with fluoride and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Be sure to clean your teeth on all sides and brush your tongue. Then spit out the toothpaste and rinse your toothbrush.

You should replace your toothbrush every 3 or 4 months. When the bristles start to fray, it’s time for a new toothbrush. If your bristles fray in less than 3 months, you may be brushing too hard.

Second, clean between your teeth and gums. You can use dental floss. You also could use interdental brushes, flossers, or water flossers. The main thing is to clean the harder to reach space at least once per day.

Our staff also can provide nutritional guidance to encourage your children to avoid too many sugary or acidic foods that can damage their teeth.

If you are interested in our patient education at Historic Triangle Dental Care, just mention it when you make your next appointment.

Find Out What Family Dentistry Should Be

In addition to cleanings and examinations, we also offer dental sealants (to keep bacteria away from teeth) and fluoride treatments (to make teeth stronger). We can create mouthguards for the athletes in your family and to protect the teeth of anyone who grinds their teeth in their sleep.

Contact us online or call 757-903-2527 to make an appointment. Whether it’s your next visit or your first, we look forward to seeing you.
